Our Café service this morning follows on from last month (the madness continues). The pictures above and below are of a 'Crackerjack' type game, the loser is the first one to drop an item that he or she is given to hold.


Okay, John is now Moses, and Chris is explaining to Moses that in her right hand is a 'Pillow of Fire' and in her left hand is a 'Pillow of Smoke' (groan). Meanwhile the Children of Israel have been set free from Pharaoh and are being led by the two Pillows of Fire & Smoke and Moses towards the Red Sea. Click here for the Ten Types of Plagues

The Children of Israel are still walking to towards the Red Sea (a cast of thousands).

They have now reached the Red Sea and they are starting to panic as the Egyptians are following them and catching them up fast! Moses stands on his chair and commands the sea to part and the Children of Israel still being led by the pillars of smoke and fire cross to the other side! Hooray!!

As the Children of Israel reach the other side the seas crash down onto the Egyptians and they are all drowned. Hooray!

Our service this morning was a café style service (we have these once a month). Chris took the service and it was about Moses and the ten plagues God inflicted onto Pharaoh, to let his people go! Continued next month - see above.


In true St. Mary's Island style we joined in with gusto, even the children were involved and the bigger kids too! Chris was demonstrating how water could be turned into blood, lovely.... One side of the room were Israelites and the other Egyptians. We even re-enacted the plague of flies, the Israelites made and threw the flies and the Egyptians swatted them.


The Ten Plagues are: The plague of Blood, Frogs, Gnats, Flies, Livestock, Boils, Hail, Locusts, Darkness and Firstborn.


11:15am Tuesday 1st January 2008 St. Mary's walked off the those extra pounds we acquired during the festive season.

We met @ Janet & Ernie's at Windyridge, we walked down to Capstone Bottom, through to Spekes Bottom.

Then we walked back up Darland Banks and back to Windyridge, where we had soup with Ploughman's lunch.

The walk lasted around 1½ hours.

We thoroughly enjoyed the walk, the fellowship and the meal.
